Our 10k is the best in Scotland

-

Yesterday, the streets of Paisley were overtaken by runners and what a fun day was had.

The Paisley 10k Road Race is aimed at both the serious runner and those competing for the first time.

For families, friends and youngsters, a 3k Fun Run and other activities took place throughout the day.

While running a 10k isn’t exactly up my street anymore, I did take part in the race a few years ago.

The only way you could even remotely convince me to take part is if the route was one around my beloved Paisley.

The Paisley 10k is a flat fast course that takes runners to the west of the town after a loop around Paisley’s historic town centre.

Running past the Abbey and town hall definitely helped me power through a few years ago, and I know I’m biased, but this 10k is the best in the country.

I’m always astounded at how much money is raised every year for charities and community groups, especially by people who are fundraising for personal reasons and never thought they could complete a 10k.

I am continually told by constituents that they are running the race and raising money for good causes along the way.

It’s the moments like this that I love about being Paisley’s MSP – meeting constituents, swapping stories and making our wee corner of the world that little bit brighter.
