Woman punched officer

-

A woman kicked off and punched a police officer in Johnstone, a court has heard.

Chloe Beatrice Allan, 18, struck PC Alison McCluskey on the head and then resisted arrest by struggling violently.

Paisley Sheriff Court was told PC McCluskey suffered bruising to her face due to the force of the blow.

Sheriff Tom McCartney told Allan that, due to the injury sustained, he took a serious view of the matter.

Allan, had previously had sentence deferred for background reports.

She admitted committing the offence in Beith Road on January 7, by punching PC McCluskey on the head, seizing her by the hair and clothing, then resisting arrest by struggling violently and obstructing her as she attempted to handcuff her.

Defence agent Terry Gallanagh said Allan, of Bute Drive, Johnstone, took exception as police were dealing with another individual, accepted full responsibility and was remorseful.

Mr Gallanagh said she had lost her job and now planned to sign up for further education.

He explained: “She very much regrets acting as she did, is a first offender with no previous convictions and has shown a certain degree of maturity as she faced up to this.”

Mr Gallanagh asked Sheriff McCartney to consider deferring sentence to give Allan a chance to show she had learned a lesson.

After studying a photograph of the injury sustained by PC McCluskey, Sheriff McCartney said: “I see a photograph of a police officer with a bruised face and that was caused by you.”

He made Allan the subject of a 12-month Community Payback Order, requiring her to complete 90 hours of unpaid work in a threemonth period.

“You must comply or this will be brought back to me and the order can be revoked and this matter dealt with in some other way,” he added.
