Voting form reminder
A Paisley councillor has urged residents to return important electoral forms.
Councillor Mags MacLaren, member for Paisley Northwest, says that only 50 per cent of homes across Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde have sent back Household Enquiry Forms.
Councillor MacLaren says that returning the form will help ensure people are on the electoral roll.
She said: “Only around half of the annual canvass forms issued by the Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board have been returned. It’s vital everyone ensures they are signed up to vote.
“It is important that all residents retain their right to vote.
“Too many people have given too many sacrifices to ensure that we have a vote today.
“It is essential if we want to live in a democracy that all eligible residents maintain their registration on the current electoral roll.”
A recent report to the Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board – the body that deals with voter registration across Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde – highlighted that only 50.7 per cent of the Household Enquiry Forms have been returned.
These forms are essential in identifying individual voters and ensuring that residents are on the electoral roll.
