Cops say pub regulars would have seen attack horror

Cops are closing in on three blade thugs who knifed a man in a bloodbath street attack.

Police say a group of people standing outside the Wellington Bar saw the yobs who left their target for dead.

The victim, 45, was stabbed and slashed in broad daylight in Paisley’s Causeyside Street after the yobs piled out a car.

Detective Constable Chris Hughes is leading the hunt for Paisley CID and says the public may hold the key to tracking the brutes.

He said: “Following our review of CCTV, several people, both men and women, are seen outside the bar at the corner of Causeyside Street and Stevenson Street at the time of the attack.

“They will more than likely have seen it happen from where they were.

“We believe from our investigations that this attack was not random.

“The men knew who they were going to attack and they did so in a vicious manner in front of a good number of people.

“Causeyside Street is one of the busiest streets in Paisley and this happened early on a Thursday evening.

“The area would have been busy with both pedestrians and vehicles.

“We would encourage people to get in touch with police, especially those mentioned as being seen on CCTV, as their evidence may be of great assistance to the enquiry.”

The victim was in a parked car when the attackers pulled up alongside him at the junction near Espedair Street.

He tried to run, but suffered the horror ordeal when they caught up around 4.40pm on Thursday, August 17.

The man was slashed in the face, stabbed in the back and sustained numerous cuts and bruises.

He was rushed to the nearby Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The attackers are all described as being and between 6ft and 6ft 2ins tall.

The first is aged between 20 and 40, has a stocky build and wore a light jacket, white T-shirt and blue skinny jeans.

The next is aged between 30 and 40, with short dark hair, a skinny build and was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms.

The third man is aged between 40 and 50 and is of heavy build, with short hair, which was greying on the top.
