I’m good to go, new boy Tyler tells Clan

Late arrival doesn’t bother him

- Craig Ritchie

Tyler Shattock insists he is ready and raring to go – despite missing the first week of training and games at new side Braehead Clan.

The 27-year-old was confirmed as the Clan’s latest signing at the turn of the week as the side returned from pre-season games in England and Wales.

And even though he is having to play catch-up with his new teammates, Shattock reckons he will get up to speed quick enough to impress head coach John Tripp.

Shattock said: “I know the Elite League starts earlier than the ECHL, but I’ve been skating and working for the last few weeks and I’ll be ready for the start of the new campaign.

“It won’t take me long to catch up with the fitness side of things. I’ve been practising all summer, getting ready to return to playing.

“The move kind of came up last-minute and John Tripp got hold of me in the last couple of weeks to discuss the possibility of coming over.

“I was pretty set on returning to the ECHL and they convinced me to make the move to the UK, so I’m pretty excited about it.

“I liked where John was coming from when we spoke and he seems to be the kind of guy that will tell you how it is. He’s just finished playing and it’s great to have a coach that’s been through that and I think he’ll be good for us.

“I want to come over and help Braehead win games. From what I know, they are one of the bigger teams and I look forward to being part of that.”
