Paisley Daily Express

Moved by courage of brave Jamie

-

I wanted to write in to applaud the bravery of Paisley man Jamie Mirrlees who lost half of his face to cancer after being told by doctors it was just a problem with a tear duct.

To have gone through what he has and still have the courage to be photographed and tell his story in the Paisley Daily Express (August 22) was unbelievable.

I can’t imagine how he must have felt when doctors told him he would need to have so much of his face removed. I would have been terrified.

But he’s managed to rebuild his life with the support of his family and now tell his story in a bid to help others.

It’s too late to save Jamie’s eye but he spoke out so others might not have to go through what he did and I really admire that.

I wish him all the best for his future. Name and address supplied

Hopeforschoolplan

I read with anticipation the Paisley Daily Express story (August 18) about the Half-Time School.

For too long, this building has been lying neglected, getting into a worse state of wear.

If –or when – the development goes ahead, I hope it will reflect the school’s previous history in shape or design and what it meant for the local people who attended it.
