Course is a breeze for Velo trio as they bag best times

Riders don’t let wind get in the way of their successful time trials

- Craig Ritchie

The Paisley Velo racers were back in the saddle this week as their TT Series continues to be a closely-fought affair.

And, despite the latest round of times, there are still only two seconds separating those at the top of the competition’s leaderboard.

The club’s groups have now been split at the 19-minute mark to allow for some more healthy competitions among the group — and it seems to have worked a treat as the keen cyclists continue to turn out in their numbers in a bid for glory.

Back to the Tuesday action and it proved to be a pretty standard night for all of those involved. The riders experienced a head wind as they departed from Houston, before having a slight tailwind as they headed back to Inchinnan.

But the conditions failed to halt the Velo riders in their tracks, with Garry Rankin, Scott Mushet and Colin Sales all managing to record personal best times over the course.

Sam McGrath was the man to post the top time in group one, while guest rider Ricardo Pallisco clocked the fastest time of the night.

Times: Group one — 00: 17: 16 Sam McGrath, 00: 18: 32 Garry Rankin (PB), 00:18:33 Colin Sales ( PB), 00: 19: 19 Simon Arnold, 00:20:13 Andy McLeod, 00:21:32 Scott Mushet (PB).

Guest riders — 00:16:19 Ricardo Pallisco, 00:20:07 Joe Bryceland.

A Paisley Velo spokesman said: “The absence of Ian McDermott and Don Smith this week means it’s still very much all to play for, with two races left to go.

“Group two is also highly competitive, with a number of riders in close proximity to each other.

“Full end of series results will be posted here when the time comes.

“For next week, as always, the first rider is off from the Inchinnan end of Georgetown Road at 6.45pm, so come and cheer them on.” All photos courtesy of Mark Logan
