Pervert caught out after selling laptop

Vile child sex abuse videos found on machine

- Ron Moore

A pervert was caught with a horrific child rape video after selling his laptop in Paisley.

Creep Alex Huskinson, 32, sold his computer at Money Station, in the town’s High Street, containing footage of a young girl, aged between 10 and 13, being sexually abused by a male adult.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard this week that Huskinson had both downloaded and watched the video, classified as category A — the most severe level of sexual abuse images.

The crime only came to light after he walked into the store in Paisley in March 2016, where he sold his laptop for cash after providing staff with identification.

Fiscal depute Keri Marshall told the court: “The accused visited Money Station at High Street on March 22 to sell his laptop.

“Company policy requires he provide two forms of ID, which he had including his passport.

“The shop accepted the laptop in exchange for a sum of cash.

“As per procedure, the laptop was sent to Money Station’s head office in Edinburgh, where an employee witness Gall, a computer repair technician, was tasked with resetting the laptop to its factory settings for resale.

“He discovered a fault with the mouse button.

“The laptop was retained for use within the office.

“In the process of installing software, the witness rescued items from the trash can, where he saw a thumbnail image which appeared to be a movie.

“He clicked on the thumbnail, which opened a video and observed a naked young girl aged between 10 and 13 with graphic words written on her chest in a marker pen.”

The court heard the video showed graphic footage of the youngster being raped by a man.

The horrified witness informed his manager, who immediately contacted police, who obtained details from the shop’s records about Huskinson, who works as a waiter.

He was arrested and a forensic examination of the computer revealed Huskinson had downloaded the child abuse film while at Taychreggan Hotel, Loch Awe, Argyll, between January 2 and February 14, 2016.

Yesterday, the creep, from Lifford Road, Doncaster, pleaded guilty to charges of having indecent photographs of children in his possession at Money Station, High Street, Paisley, and to taking, or permitting to be taken, indecent photographs of children at Taychreggan Hotel.

Defence agent Kieran Dean confirmed Huskinson was pleading guilty, but added he would be reserving his defence submission until the disposal of the case.

Sheriff Colin Pettigrew deferred sentence for the preparation of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a separate report from the Pathways Project, which works with sex offenders.

Huskinson was also banned from having any contact with a child under 16 and from using or accessing an internet device which does not store his activity.

Sheriff Pettigrew said: “Owing to the nature of the offence you will also be subject to notification requirements under the sexual offences legislation.”

Huskinson was released on bail and will discover his fate when he returns for sentencing in October.
