Traffic chaos drunk caged

-

A drunk yob who ran into traffic and demanded a lift home from drivers has been caged for six months.

Scott Rudge, 23, caused drivers to swerve to avoid him after he staggered onto the carriageway and began banging windows.

He also ranted at cops after they lifted him, calling them: “piggy b******s” and “black b******s”.

The thug was jailed after admitting acting in a threatening manner and making racist slurs.

Prosecutor John Penman revealed Rudge was subject to a 7pm to 7am home curfew when he wandered onto the road and began bawling.

He said: “He asked for a taxi home and not surprisingly the request was declined.

“He then starts kicking the vehicle and police were called.”

The court heard Rudge was demanding a lift to Ayrshire from passing drivers in Maxwellton Street after partying with his girlfriend around midnight on May 7.

He began kicking at the bodywork of the car owned by Andrew Wilson before police pulled up. They found him in an agitated state, before he turned his aggression on them.

Defence lawyer Charlie McCusker blamed his client’s behaviour on a drink problem

He told how Rudge, of Troon, Ayrshire, had been banned from leaving his home at night by Ayr Sheriff Court for a separate offence.

Sheriff David Pender heard the brute had been slapped with two community payback orders in the past.

He warned there was no alternative to custody and sent him down.
