Scottish call-up for Colin Spence

Arthurlie’s Colin Spence has been called up to the Scotland side for the upcoming Quadrangul­ar Tournament.

Midfielder Spence is the only player from the area’s four junior side’s to be selected by Scotland select boss Keith Burgess, for the event that the SJFA will host in the Glasgow area between October 11 and 14.

The Scots will face Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland, as they look to get back to grips with the silverware they relinquish­ed to the Republic in Limerick four years ago.

Former St Mirren striker David McKenna has also been named in the side having shone in the juniors since signing for Beith Juniors at the start of the season.

Pollok will lead the way with four players in the 20 man squad, while big hitting Auchinleck Talbot and Beith both have three.

In total 14 of the 20 players selected ply their trade for West Region sides, with just six from the East.

Former Dumbarton defender Craig Pettigrew will be captain, taking over from Kelty Hearts player/boss Tam Courts.
