Police warning on danger of online predators

Police in Renfrewshire have reminded parents about the importance of protecting their children from online predators.

Officers wants parents to flag up any concerns of online child sexual abuse to save vulnerable kids from being groomed.

A Po li c e Sc o t l a n d spokesman said: “It is vital that we work together with parents and carers to raise awareness of online child sexual abuse.

“Because of the nature of these offences, children may not ask for help.

“There can be many reasons for this.

“They may not recognise they are being exploited due to the skilled grooming on the part of the offender.

“They may have been threatened.

“They may be embarrassed or they may believe that they have acted unlawfully.

“If you are concerned about a child, please speak to a police officer or seek advice via NSPCC.”
