Good effort by Clark, but senior men crash out

-

Scotland Senior Men golfers crashed out of the European Team Championship, despite the best efforts of Erskine’s Ronnie Clark.

Clark was part of the side looking to defend their title at the PGA Sweden National, but they came up just short against Denmark in the semi-finals.

The Erskine golfer was in fine form throughout the competition having lead the strokeplay qualifying round following fine rounds of 66 and 70 for a total score of eight under par.

The Scots then came through a quarter-final against Norway, winning 4–1, to set up the last-four clash with the Danes.

However, the Danish side proved too strong to claim a 3.5–1.5 win and progress to the final.

But after what was the rainiest week in the Championship’s history, Ireland went on to win the gold medal after defeating the Dane with 3–2 in the final.
