Keep goals coming

-

Gavin Reilly insists he has a target in mind as he continues to rack up the goals.

The St Mirren striker has been in red hot form since arriving this summer, with goals coming in all competitions.

With attention mostly focused on his success in the league, Reilly reckons that all the goals count – regardless of where and how they come.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t credited with a strike last weekend, despite appearing to have the final touch on Gregor Buchanan’s header.

He said:“People say goals in the cup don’t count, but for me they do.

“If you get 20 goals at the end of the season no-one is going to look back and break it down by the competitions. It’s the tally that counts.

“Getting that first one away at Stranraer was good to build on. I’ve just been glad to get back playing football and the goals have been a bonus.

“I’m still claiming that one on Saturday but the linesman didn’t give it to me.

“Any striker will say that you need a consistent run of games to get the best out of you.

“You can come on in games in totally different conditions and you might not be able to show what you can do.

“Credit to the gaffer for giving me the chance to come in and show what I’m capable of doing.

“I’m just glad I’ve done well so far. Long may it continue.”
