She’s in running for web music honour

-

A teenage singer songwriter from Paisley has made it to the shortlist of a new music talent competition.

Lisa Kowalski has been picked as one of the best 100 music makers from across the UK as part of Salute UK.

She uploaded her song, I Do, to the Salute UK website where top producers and industry insiders picked it to go through to the next round.

Now, she’s looking for Paisley music fans to vote for her and help her win up to £50,000.

The 17- year- old said: “My video submission was just a rough recording made during my fortnightly singing lesson. It was the first time I attempted playing it on the keyboard rather than guitar.

“It’s an honour that I’ve been voted in to the Top 100 of a competition that was entered by so many talented artists. Things like this really boost my confidence and only make me want to work harder.

“This is so exciting for me and to get to the top six would be absolutely incredible.”

I Do was written when Lisa was in the middle of a break up and has been wellreceived when played live at events like Mugstock festival this year.

The public vote will whittle down the 100 to a top six who will each receive £10,000 and take part in the Salute Finals.

The finals will use Facebook Messenger to count the public vote and the overall Salute Music Maker will win £40,000 – the biggest of any independent music prize worldwide.

Legendary former frontman of The Undertones, Fea r gal Sha rk e y , is spearheading the campaign. He said: “The top 100 artists being announced to the public are truly the cream of the crop of Britain’s musical talent.

“Giving the artists such a huge platform for their music to be heard on, and for music fans to be able to vote and follow their progress throughout this stage of the competition, is truly groundbreaking and shows Salute at the forefront of championing new independent music.

“It proves once again that Britain is leading the way in discovering the best new musical talent through the use of cutting- edge technology.”

Voting closes on Friday, October 27.
