Raid unearths kilo of MDMA
Drugs squad cops discovered nearly a kilo of a deadly party drug during a major bust.
Officers uncovered the massive haul of pure rock crystal MDMA.
They also turned up 600g of cannabis after they targeted a home in Renfrew’s Sandy Road.
It is estimated that the drugs have a combined street value of around £41,500.
Detective Chief Inspector Fil Capaldi said: “This was an intelligence- led operation in Sandy Road, Renfrew, where officers from the divisional command executed a warrant under the misuse of Drugs Act and recovered approximately 900g of rock crystal MDMA and approximately 600g of cannabis.
“Following the seizure of a vehicle, the premises were subsequently searched.”
Earlier this year, a 26-year-old clubber died in Manchester after taking rock crystal MDMA.
Police Scotland have also issued warnings about the drug in the past, after several young people fell ill after taking it.
The detective behind the operation has warned drug dealers that cops are working hard to prevent drugs reaching the street.
DI Suzanne Chow, who is based in Paisley, said: “This is a significant recovery of drugs within the Renfrew area.
“People are pedalling drugs within our communities without thinking of the consequences, not just for them, but how it affects the people who are buying the drugs — the users.
“It is never safe to take drugs. You do not know what is contained in them or what effect it will have on you.

Detective Inspector Michael Miller, Police Scotland’s national drug coordinator, added: “Any drug can be dangerous and MDMA in crystalline form is likely to be far more concentrated.
“These drugs are potent and you are putting your health at risk.
“I cannot emphasise enough that consuming MDMA with alcohol or any other drug increases the risks significantly.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said two men, aged 25 and 63, were due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court in connection with drug offences.
