Meet the nurses at hub session

Cancer awareness nurses are ready and waiting to help anyone who has questions about the disease.

Cancer Research UK workers Christine Campbell and Margaret Scott visit the charity’s superstore in the Phoenix Retail Park every second Thursday to offer shoppers information on making positive lifestyle changes.

They give out free advice on issues like stopping smoking, drinking less alcohol and keeping a healthy weight.

The superstore is celebrating its first birthday soon and has already raised £286,000 to help beat cancer since it first opened its doors last September.

The next Your Cancer Awareness Hub session takes place on Thursday, October 26.

You can drop in between 10am and 4.30pm to have a confidential chat with a nurse.

There will be a chance to access information on early diagnosis and the importance of visiting the doctor with any health concerns.

You can also find out your body mass index to see if your weight is within a healthy range, and you can ask about screening tests.

The service encourages people to return and let the nurses know how they’re getting on or ask for further guidance. Up to six repeat visits can be booked with the nurses. A private room in the superstore also offers people the chance to phone the Cancer Research UK nurse helpline on freephone 0808 800 4040.
