Speaking up for Scotland

-

It was good to catch up with Michael Russell, Minister for UK Negotiations on Scotland’s Place in Europe – or Brexit Minister for short –at Glasgow Airport last week.

He was off to London to address the Scottish Affairs Committee in Westminster.

Michael was also launching the Scottish Government paper “Brexit: What’s at stake for business.”

We all know that the respected think tank, the Fraser of Allander Institute, has predicted that Scotland could lose up to 80,000 jobs post-Brexit.

But this paper points out the many other challenges as well.

It points out the views of businesses who have been talking to the Scottish Government.

It is focussed on real companies and real issues they will face.

Michael stated to the committee the SNP’s position on the EU, and our desire to stay a part of it.

But he also mentioned he was open to dialogue on getting Scotland the best possible deal from Westminster.

Unfortunately, the Scottish Tory drones, sorry MPs, were having none of that.

Not content with threatening Scottish jobs and businesses with their Brexit nonsense, they also showed a lack of basic understanding regarding the main issues. This is, of course, concerning. But we can be thankful that we have a man like Michael Russell representing us during these negotiations.
