A teenage singer songwriter took to the streets of Paisley at the weekend to film her new music video – and she was backed by an army of Buddies.

Lisa Kowalski, 17, wrote Hearts of Gold about her experiences busking in Paisley from the age of 14.

And she could think of no better place to shoot the video than in the streets of her hometown.

Wi t h funding f rom Renfrewshire Council’s Culture, Heritage and Events Fund, she enlisted young arts organisation Create Paisley and Pace Theatre company to help with the film.

She also appealed online and in the Paisley Daily Express for anyone interested in featuring in the video to go along to the shoot.

Young people from Create Paisley filmed Lisa performing the song in the High Street and around some of Paisley’s landmarks as the song mentions the town’s impressive architecture.

Lisa was also supported by St Mirren FC, whose Paisley Panda mascot also danced along to the catchy tune.

Lisa said: “It was so much fun making the video and I can’t thank everyone who came along to help enough. A special mention needs to go to Pace Youth Theatre for sending more than 50 talented extras along and I appreciate everyone’s time and enthusiasm.

“The whole experience just shows that Paisley really does have Hearts of Gold and I can’t wait to share the final video with everyone.”

The song includes the lyrics: “And the streets are paved with hearts of gold, as the people stop to listen and appreciate the stories that I’ve told.”

Lisa said: “I love Hearts of Gold because it tells such a personal story and reflects how much I love Paisley.

“I wasn’t the happiest of 14-year-olds, and it gave me such a confidence boost to know people appreciated my music and that it could cheer up their Saturday morning for a while.

“As I have progressed on my musical journey, the support I have received from local people, businesses and the Paisley 2021 campaign has been amazing.

“I want the film to show how grateful I am and what a great place Paisley is.”

It is hoped the video will be ready for release by the end of the year.
