At around 9pm on Saturday night, a 33-year-old was rushed to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital and later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Universtity Hospital, Glasgow, after he was attacked by a thug at the Clippens Inn pub.

Officers investigating the beating are looking to trace a man who is described as being white, around 6ft tall and between the ages of 25 and 30.

They are examining internal and external CCTV footage in a bid to trace the yob and say they are following a positive line of enquiry.

Officers have also appealed for anyone who was in the pub at the time of the attack to get in touch with DC Douglas McFarlane at Paisley CID on 101.

Just hours later, an 18-year-old man was seriously assaulted in a street.

It is believed the young man had his head stamped on during the horror incident.

“It was very serious but it could have been much worse.

“We are carrying house-to-house enquiries in the area and we are currently reviewing CCTV footage.

“We are following a positive line of enquiry at to the moment but I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward to police as soon as possible.”
