Spurned lover kicked partner’s door in

-

A jilted brute booted his ex’s door until it broke after she ditched him during a day out.

Paul Robertson, 31, stomped round to Lyndsey Kerr’s home after attempts to patch up their relationship failed.

He tried to burst his way into her building after she disappeared.

Robertson admitted wilfully or recklessly damaging the panel at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Prosecutor Saud Hassan told how the pair had split after seven years together.

He said: “Lyndsey Kerr was in her home.

“At this time, the accused was observed kicking at the door and shouting.

“Neighbours spoke of seeing and hearing the accused.

“He commenced kicking at the door, causing damage to a glass panel and did gain entry.

“Police attended and found the building insecure, with nobody inside and the rear door damaged.”

The pair split last year, but had met up to try again.

He turned up at the home in Paisley’s Foxbar Road and repeatedly hammered the door around 8.30pm on October 23 last year.

His defence agent claimed her client was “knocking on the door” because he was “trying to find her”.

She said: “Mr Robertson and the complainer were in a relationship that had broken down, but they were trying to reconcile.

“They were out on the day in question, but she had left without him.

“He’s single and a full-time labourer, earning around £300 per week.”

Robertson, of nearby Hollybush Avenue, caused £200 worth of damage, but has since paid for repairs.

He had previously dodged an earlier appearance when the case was called in court on June 6.

Sheriff David Pender was told Robertson had missed the date because he changed address, but had not provided updated information for postal services.

He fined him £ 250 for damaging the door and £150 for failure to appear.
