M8 work alert for drivers
Resurfacing works will take place on the M8 eastbound at Glasgow Airport this weekend.
Scotland tranServ will undertake the resurfacing of the M8 eastbound between junction 29 and junction 28.
This means there will be a contraflow system in operation from 8pm on Friday to 6am on Monday.
Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s principal roads design engineertold the Paisley Daily Express:“This is an important resurfacing project to address issues with surface defects and structural cracking over a kilometre of the motorway, near Glasgow Airport.
“We have worked with the airport, Police Scotland, Local Authorities and other key stakeholders to schedule the works to cause minimal disruption.
“We will operate a contraflow system to help keep weekend traffic flowing.
“This is an important project that will deliver longterm improvements in the quality of the road surface in this busy stretch of the M8, to the benefit of commuters, business traffic and tourists alike.”
The company’s traffic flow modelling contractor is forecasting potential delays of up to 40 minutes.
Drivers are asked to plan their journeys with this in mind and if possible avoid the area altogether or consider the use of public transport.
