It’s good to talk

-

The latest meeting of Renfrew Ladies’ Speakers’ Club saw members of its opposite contingent from Glasgow attend as guests.

President Irene Thom welcome the members of Glasgow Ladies’ Speakers’ Club and introduced the chairman for the evening Joan Milburn.

Margaret Cowie then gave the thought for the day.

The evening’s topic was ‘craft’.

Mrs Cowie said taking up a craft was good for the health.

There were three speakers on the topic. Sheina Ross spoke of how she was a failure at trying any craft, while Catriona McCallum spoke of the outcome of crafts carried out by Tibetan monks.

Norma Murray persuaded all that we must “save our crafts”.

The speeches were evaluated by other club members.

Marion Henderson then gave short topics on the subject, which were answered off the cuff.

A general evaluation was given by Graham McLachlan, a former national president of the association. He said it had been a successful evening of learning, entertainment and enjoyment.

Anyone interested in the club would be most welcome to go to a meeting.

It meets in the Normandy Hotel, Renfrew, every alternate Thursday at 7.30pm.
