Scoot along and enjoy Mod mania

-

Get set for a fantastic weekend of live music and events in Paisley.

The Spree, Spree for All and all the other exciting events that have been going on around the town have been amazing this past week.

I won’t do it justice, but I’ll list some of the highlights here.

I heard that the Frightened Rabbit gig at Paisley Abbey on Tuesday was fantastic and Paolo Nutini is playing there tonight .

If you are one of the lucky ones who got a ticket, I’m sure you will be in for an amazing night.

Also playing at this unique venue is James Grant, who presents Paisley: The Untold Story tomorrow evening.

Buddies are being spoiled for choice.

An amazing alternative gig this evening and one to kick off a whole weekend of modness is Mod Life Crisis — All or Nothing, at The Bungalow. It starts at 8pm and entry costs £4.

Tomorrow, at the same venue, is Kirk Brandon’s Theatre of Hate, from 7pm. Tickets cost £15 from http:// ruthlessartistes.bigcartel.com/

ModStuff 2017 starts around noon in the Spiegeltent in County Square, also tomorrow.

The free afternoon session features The Turkey Nuts, The Kinks Experience, Republic of Soul, while Paisley’s very own Gerry McGuire will hold it all together seamlessly as resident DJ.

Come along and see the Scooter Ride-out, featuring cool wheels from all over Scotland.

The Paisley Vespa Scooter Club has organised the event, raising awareness and funds for Renfrewshire Carers.

There’s a scooter up for grabs in a special prize draw. Tickets will be available on the day, and all proceeds go to The Teenage Cancer Trust.

At the Burger and Keg, from 5pm to 7pm, enjoy Mod-aoke. Have a refreshment, something to eat and sing-along too.

The ModStuff main event runs from 7pm to 11.45pm.

Doors open with Gerry McGuire at 7pm for a sharp 8pm start, followed by The Sell Out at 9pm, then The Style Councillors will headline a sold-out gig at 10pm.

Head into town straight after until the smaller hours.

Hamishes’ Hoose has Northern Soul until 1am and the Burger and Keg party is on until 2am, with a DJ on the decks.

Round up the weekend in the Spiegeltent with ModStuff Northern Soul Sunday, featuring Berry Tweed and The Chasers.

Kevin Stewart will be spinning vinyl in between sets to keep you on your feet.

There’s restricted tickets for this one, leaving the whole area in front of the stage clear for dancing.

There’s lots more happening from now till then, including The Spree For all Community Fringe. For more details, visit www.thespree.co.uk

Have a great time in the heart of Paisley and keep music live.
