Shaun and pals let shoppers tear a strip off them
More than £ 600 has been raised for Stand Up To Cancer thanks to a sponsored leg wax in a charity shop.
The Cancer Research UK superstore at Linwood hosted the event on Saturday.
Staff member Shaun McVean, who lives in Linwood, organised the fundraiser in memory of his father David, who lost his battle with bowel cancer aged 56 in 2013.
Shaun’s work friends Alex Johnstone, 26, and Chris Cullen, 26, also braved the wax strips to help boost the fund.
Dozens of customers – including Shaun’s mum Moira and girlfriend Dana Aghabi, 21 – made donations to tear wax strips off the lads’ legs.
Shaun, 24, said: “It was a brilliant afternoon with a lot of laughter and I’d like to thank all the generous shoppers who contributed.
Alex already has nice, shiny shins by this stage
“A treatment bed was set up right in the middle of the superstore, so everyone could get an excellent view.
“I was shaking before it started. The first few strips weren’t too bad as they were across the lower area of my legs.
“They later decided to take the waxing right up to our boxer shorts.
“It was super painful when the wax strips reached the inner thigh area.
“It was definitely worth it though. My dad went through so much with cancer.
“I’m determined to Stand Up To Cancer so other families don’t have to go through everything my family did. I want to raise money to help save lives.”
Stand Up To Cancer is a joint fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 that aims to get new pioneering tests and treatments to cancer patients faster.
