It’s party time with nine-hole competition, cream tea and disco

- Craig Ritchie

Paisley’s pink taxi was on call to get everyone to Paisley Golf Club for a whole day of Wear It Pink for Breast Cancer Now fundraising.

And the kind- hearted Paisley golfers raised a stunning £1,600 for the charity, while also managing to find time to get out on the course.

The day started with a nine-hole competition followed by a cream tea for members, and then a disco in the evening for members and guests.

The organisers were four Paisley Golf Club members – Pamela Smith, Lorraine Scott, Lesley McFee and Sandra Wilson – and more than 80 women took part in the three events.

And the Paisley 2021 Bid frame was there to catch all the fun.

Pamela, who is currently Lady Captain at PGC, told Express Sport: “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer and our club is no exception, so Lesley, Lorraine, Sandra and I decided to take action and support the National Wear It Pink for Breast Cancer Now Day on Friday.

“We started our fundraising activities with a nine- hole competition, with prizes awarded for the winning team of three – and one for the most pink outfit.

“There followed a cream tea, where there were further opportunities to give generously and win prizes, and every lady received a make-up gift, courtesy of Boots, and a drink, courtesy of Morrisons.

“It was a fun afternoon but for a very serious cause and we were privileged to have as a guest speaker Fiona Morrison who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer at the RAH Paisley.

“The RAH Breast Care Unit supplied us with booklets and keyrings for all our ladies.”

Pamela added: “And then we danced the night away. But we continued with our fundraising activities, whuch included a lotto, a silent auction, a bottle tombola, a guess the number of tees, and more.

“In total, we raised £1,600 for Breast Cancer Now.

“On behalf of all four organisers, I would like to thank everyone who made our day such a success.

“Thanks go to all who took part in our three events, to everyone who donated prizes for our lotto and bottles for our tombola – and especially to Dakota Deluxe Glasgow, Gleneagles, Murrayshall and Elie Golf Clubs and VVA Bags for their very generous silent auction donations.

“Thanks also go to Paisley Taxis, the Paisley 2021 Bid team and the RAH Paisley, and to Boots, Morrisons and the David Lloyd group for their continued support of our fundraising activities at Paisley Golf Club.”
