Faces of shame – the thugs who have paid the price

-

Thugs who knelt on a pregnant teen’s belly, flicked a cigarette into a woman’s face and left a girl soaked in blood are among those brought to justice for domestic abuse.

Yobs are hauled into the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court on a daily basis for horrific crimes against their partners.

Arran Clark, 19, was among them after he pinned down Shannon Robertson – even though she was carrying his baby.

He insisted he lashed out at Lomond Gardens, Elderslie, because he had “issues with his feelings” and “struggled to deal with emotions” in October last year.

But the brute, of Glenburn Road, Paisley, avoided jail stretch last month and was warned to behave or be locked up.

Craig Gilchrist, then 31, was also spared prison when he terrorised ex-girlfriend Stacey Officer.

The bully, from Millburn Way Renfrew, has five convictions for domestic violence and stormed into her house, shouted and swore at her and refused to leave after she complained about him on Facebook.

The dad-of-two left his former partner shaking in fear after he barged into the home in nearby Birmingham Road last December 30.

He was told to complete 100 hours of unpaid work in May.

Carpet cleaner Darren Quigley, then 30, threatened to slap a girl, 14, after a night out with his partner turned nasty.

The Quality Clean Carpets and Upholstery boss threatened to “KO” his partner and smack the teenage babysitter at Mains Wood, Erskine, last November.

Quigley, of Victoria Drive East, Renfrew, has a previous conviction for domestic abuse, but was fined just £500 in January.

Grier Sweetin, then 24, left Natanya Feeney, then 21, covered in blood when he headbutted and choked her after accusing her of cheating.

He launched the frightening attack at their home in Paisley’s Clarence Street on November 22, 2015, and told her: “If I can’t have you, nobody will.”

He was jailed for 18 months last December.

And John Paul Wyllie, then 33, was locked up for 10 months after a campaign of hate against former partners.

Victim Islay McAuley was thrown in a bath, pushed over a table and had a cigarette thrown in her face and headbutted ,and he swung a baseball bat at Suzanne McLeary.

One of the women was so scared she fled to Italy to start her life again.

Wyllie, of Greenlaw Avenue, Paisley, has previous convictions for domestic assault and embezzlement and targeted the pair between 2010 and 2014 at addresses in Renfrewshire and Glasgow.
