Hat-trick of Velo riders make the most of glorious weather
It’s a hard climb ... but somebody has to do it
Paisley Velo riders were back in the thick of it as they made the most of the weather to enjoy a thrilling weekend.
The group’s riders were out in action across the West of Scotland, with Velo’s Big Ring heading down to Greenock.
They took the well-travelled route, turning left at the fire station and left again up the Kilmacolm Road climb, passing by Whinhall Station.
The group then headed to Howwood for their traditional café stop, and up the Elliston climb, through Lugton, Stewarton and home via Barrhead.
All in all, it was a long journey but one enjoyed by all the riders who braved the climbs.
The club’s Middle Ring group were also out on the roads as they pushed themselves to the limit.
Although not as long a jaunt as the Big Ring riders, their course was still testing as they enjoyed a shorter tour of Renfrewshire.
They headed though Bishopton and Kilmacolm, before stopping off at Howwood. They then ascended the Bowfield Road climb, heading through Lugton and Dunlop before heading back along the Lochlibo Road to Barrhead and back to Paisley.
Meanwhile, Velo’s Wee Ring group took themselves across the River Clyde to Balloch and West Dunbartonshire, before enjoying a café stop of their own at Corries, in Balloch.
With nearly 30 riders out among the three main groups, the conditions were perfect compared to last weekend and it is great to see a mixture of new and old faces out on the runs over the weekend.
Next up is the Night Circuits, planned for Thursday evening on a loop up to Glenburn, Paisley and Foxbar.
