Tots found wet and lost in street

-

Two helpless tots, aged just two and three, were found in the street by a stranger after they had wandered out of their home.

The vulnerable youngsters were discovered wet and confused in Ferguslie Park Avenue shortly after noon on Tuesday.

It’s understood the toddlers had left their nearby home after a door was left unlocked and walked out in to the rain.

A concerned passer-by stopped the little ones in the street before taking them to Ferguslie Park police station.

Fortunately, the children were uninjured during the incident and officers traced the parents a short time later.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman yesterday told the Paisley Daily Express a man and woman, both aged 25, were subject to a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with Children and Young Persons Act charges. David Campbell

Gun-toting thugs shot a man from behind during a botched murder bid.

Detectives are hunting the dangerous gang who targeted the 41-year-old man as he worked on a car in a farmyard.

The victim was injured during the incident and was rushed to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

The victim is believed to have been a visitor to the R&A Lovett Farm when he was callously shot.

Three or four men were seen speeding away from the scene in a dark green coloured saloon- type car heading towards Barrochan Road – the B789 – around 2.30pm.

Officers, who are treating the attack as attempted murder, say they believe the man was the intended target of the shooting but are yet to establish any motive.

A Police helicopter was heard in the air shortly after the attack and officers say they are scouring CCTV in a bid to trace the shooters.

Specialist forensic officers were scouring the scene for clues yesterday and the road was closed for much of the day.

Detective Chief Inspector Fil Capaldi appealed for witnesses to come forward and urged anyone who had visited the Crosslee Road farm on Tuesday, the day of the shooting, to get in touch.

He said: “The motive for this attack is not clear, however, we do believe the victim was the intended target.

“While the farm is in a rural location, there were several people visiting it for various reasons throughout the morning and afternoon.

“I am appealing to anyone who was there and who may have seen the car or has any information that could assist our enquiries to get in touch.”

The owner of R&A Lovett Farm, Eddie Lovett, posted on Facebook yesterday to say that it would remain closed following the incident as investigations continue.

He wrote: “Poultry Farm, gas and fireworks are closed due to unforeseen circumstances. Will reopen as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience.

“Family and staff are OK and not connected to the event on the property.”

Crosslee Road, which connects Barrochan Road and Bridge of Weir Road, was still closed yesterday afternoon, with locals reporting a heavy police presence in the area.

Anyone with any information is asked to call officers at Paisley Police Station, alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
