Store races to help charity that rescues greyhounds
Family fun weekend raises £300
Hundreds of pounds were raised for a dog charity on the first weekend of its partnership with Pets At Home.
The branch at Phoenix Retail Park in Paisley raised £ 313 for Royalheart Greyhound Rescue.
Staff and customers enjoyed a family fun weekend on Saturday and Sunday to back the good cause.
Royalheart, based in Langbank, is a non-profit organisation that relies on community donations.
It currently has 12 dogs in its care, with some of them spending long periods there due to health issues.
Lesley Roberts, from Royalheart, said: “We were delighted to find out we are also the store’s partner for the Santa Paws fundraiser, which means all donations given by the public will be split between the Royalheart and Support Adoption For Pets.
“It’s great news for us. We intend to spend a lot of time in and around the store, meeting the customers and introducing the dogs to these customers who are kindly donating to the appeal.
“Every pound matters to the rescue and goes towards the care of these dogs.
“We can’t thank the store enough”.
Gail Seery, branch manager, said: “These fun days are great. Kids can pop in and meet the dogs and some of them also get to meet the rabbits and other small animals.
“It was a great weekend – a lot of fun and laughter and a great sense of community.
“We can’t thank the customers enough for their support with our appeals .”
