Bosses at Paisley’s university say there has never been a better time to study engineerin­g and computing.

The University of the West of Scotland ( UWS) is rated top in Scotland for teaching quality and student experience in these subject areas.

Pupils across Renfrewshi­re have to apply through the UCAS clearing system by January 15 for university study in September 2018, and UWS says the univerrsit­y is the ideal study destinatio­n for those interested in pursuing a career in engineerin­g or computing.

The uni’s School of Engineerin­g and Computer offers a range of careerfocu­sed programmes at its Paisley Campus relating to computing, creative technologi­es, engineerin­g and physics.

Professor Ian Allison, dean of the sniversity’s School of Engineerin­g and Computing, said: “At UWS are committed to ensuring our students have a first- rate university experience.

UWS says students are central to everything it does, and the School of Engineerin­g and Computing’s courses are top-rated in Scotland for teaching quality and student experience.

The uni is top in Scotland for student satisfacti­on in aeronautic­al and manufactur­ing, chemical, civil and general engineerin­g in the Complete University Guide 2018.

It is also number one in Scotland for student experience in the Computer Science category in the Times Good University Guide 2017.

It came top in the UK for overall student satisfacti­on in Civil Engineerin­g, Engineerin­g Management and Physics in the National Student Survey 2017.
