Full marks for primary school
Inspectors have praised the attainment and wellbeing of pupils at St Fillan’s Primary, in Houston.
A team from Education Scotland visited the school in September to assess staff, pupils and relationship with parents.
And it found a number of strengths, including positive relationships between staff and pupils; articulate, polite children who are generous, thoughtful and caring; a wide range of partnerships and opportunities for wider achievement; and the willingness of the new senior leadership team and staff to work together to provide stability.
There were some areas for improvement noted that have been discussed with the acting headteacher, Claire McKenzie and a representative from Renfrewshire Council.
These include to: develop strong and consistent leadership, improve self-evaluation to ensure continuous improvement, making sure the curriculum reflects the school more clearly, improve the consistency of learning, teaching and assessment.
HM Inspector Shona Taylor said: “We are confident that the school has the capacity to continue to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection.
“The council will inform parents/ carers about the school’s progress as part of its arrangements for reporting on the quality of schools.”
