Car thief tried to mow down victim

A violent car thief has been convicted of trying mow down a young Paisley man as he attempted to stop his motor being stolen.

Steven Payne attempted to reverse over Andrew O’Donnell after dragging him along the street at 40mph.

The 26-year-old victim was left in hospital after desperately clinging to his Volkswagen Polo as Payne took it from outside his home in Castle Gardens, Paisley.
