Woman hurt in smash

A woman was rushed to hos­pi­tal af­ter a crash at a busy Pais­ley junc­tion.

Two cars col­lided at the junc­tion be­tween Mill Street and Glas­gow Road at around 2.45pm yes­ter­day af­ter­noon.

The in­ci­dent in­volved a red Ford Fi­esta and a sil­ver Vaux­hall Corsa.

Mo­torists suf­fered lengthy tail­backs fol­low­ing the crash, with po­lice di­rect­ing traf­fic away from the scene as the cars were up­lifted.

Fol­low­ing the smash, a woman was taken to the Royal Alexan­dra Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Po­lice were un­able to com­ment on the woman’s con­di­tion last night.

A spokesman for the Scot­tish Am­bu­lance Ser­vice said:“We re­ceived a call at 2.43pm on Mon­day to at­tend an in­ci­dent on Glas­gow Road.

“We dis­patched one am­bu­lance to the scene.

“One fe­male was taken to the Royal Alexan­dra Hos­pi­tal.”
