Young storytellers can win a chance to be published
A charity named after the much-loved children’s author Roald Dahl is launching a competition to find a young writing superstar.
Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity has teamed up with children’s footwear retailer, Chipmunks, to encourage youngsters to get creative and celebrate the art of storytelling by coming up with their own tale about the charity’s mascot, Marvin the Marvellous Crocodile.
Schoolkids aged under 12 are eligible to enter and could win the chance to have their work published and read to some of the children receiving care from Roald Dahl nurses, including an epilepsy specialist nurse at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.
Sarah Sharkey, from Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, said: “We’re always looking at innovative and creative ways to raise awareness of the amazing work that our nurses and specialists do to improve the lives of seriously ill children.
“As stories and creativity form such a huge part of our heritage, we’re really excited to be launching this competition with Chipmunks.
“Bedtime stories are such an important part of growing up and can offer great comfort to children who are going through a difficult time.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing what marvellously imaginative entries come in about Marvin the Marvellous Crocodile and the Chipmunks characters.”
To celebrate the new partnership, Chipmunks will also be giving the winner an exclusive hamper of goodies, including a set of boxed Roald Dahl books and a £100 footwear voucher.
The competition is open until late December and entries can be sent to bedtimestories@ ilkagency.com.
