Heralded as the most prestigious award ceremony in the traditional music calendar, the winners will be revealed during a glitzy award ceremony on Saturday, December 2, at the Lagoon Leisure Centre.

Organisers, Hands Up For Trad, unveiled the shortlist via Facebook live and will hand out a total of 16 awards to the best trad talent throughout Scotland’s bustling industry.

Online voting for the shortlisted acts runs until November 24.

The awards take place in Paisley as the town bids for the UK City of Culture 2021 title.

Tickets are available now, and can be purchased by calling 0300 300 1210, or visiting www.paisley2021.co.uk/events/

They can also be bought directly from Paisley Arts Centre. Successful Scottish artist Peter Nardini will be playing an intimate Renfrewshire gig later this month.

He is a singer, songwriter – and artist – whose songs can be described as contemporary Scottish folk music, and he’s coming to Kilbarchan Performing Arts Centre.

Peter’s first album, released in 1982, was a collection of songs, most of which were written for Radio Scotland’s satirical topical series, Naked Radio.

His second album, Is There Anybody Out There?, released in 1986, consisted of a selection of humorous, political and love songs.

In 1993, the album Screams and Kisses was released on the Eclectic Records label and, though the songs have a folk base, this album has more of a pop feel to it. The best known song from this work is A Kiss From Wishaw Cross.

Because of a debilitating condition in his strumming arm, Peter’s public performances have been very rare over the past 15 years.

Prior to this, he was regularly seen and heard on TV and radio.

He has continued to write and release songs over the years and has adapted his playing style recently, enabling him to perform again.

Peter will be playing in Kilbarchan in order to raise funds for The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.

He will be playing songs from his recent album, Sixtysix, in which he focuses his artists eye and his songwriter’s ear on his usual concerns – love, loss and longing set against the inevitable process of growing up and growing older.

A spokesperson for Peter said: “His songs are original, funny, poignant, romantic and much more.

“Think The Proclaimers meets Bob Dylan.”

Don’t miss Peter’s performance at the Kilbarchan Performing Arts Centre on November 29.

Doors open 7.30pm and show commences at 8pm. The venue in Steeple Square will be set out cafe style for this BYOB event.
