A double helping of legendary acts

Scotland has given the world many iconic bands and two of them are playing a joint gig in Paisley.

Big Country and The Skids are taking to the stage together tonight to a sold-out crowd at Paisley Town Hall.

Buddies will be able to witness something never seen before as this is the first time the multi-million selling acts will have performed on the same bill.

If you are going, be sure to give them the usual big Paisley welcome.

Over at The Bungalow tonight is The Pet Shop Boys – Tribute Band.

The fantastic electronic duo are promising hits from as far back as 1985, including the number one single West End Girls, from one of the most popular synth bands to grace the charts.

Watching this act always makes for a night to remember with amazing sounds and smash-hits from The Pet Shop Boys that will make any fan want to get up and dance all night long.

A sterling delivery and wealth of electronic musical wisdom means their reproducti­on of legendary classics is guaranteed to give audiences an unforgetta­ble show.

Tickets cost £8 and the gig kicks off at 8pm, with support from DJ Boab Williamson.

Tomorrow night, NNE proudly presents Scotland’s top U2 tribute band, Rattled and Hummin’.

This four-piece is a favourite among U2 fans for capturing the essence and energy of original performanc­es.

With a repertoire of songs ranging from the early U2 years, such as I Will Follow to the recent Every Breaking Wave, this is a truly nostalgic journey with hits and some forgotten gems

It’s not to be missed. The gig starts at 8pm and tickets cost £7.

The Cave has another great weekend of live music lined up, starting tonight with Gordon’s Alive at 8pm.

Revellers going to The Skids and Big Country gig can pop in afterwards for more live music till midnight.

Tomorrow, at 6pm, Moonshine Mojo will take to the stage, so for those wanting in out of the cold after the Paisley Christmas lights switchon, this is where to head.

Big Licks will take over from 9pm, with Heavy Load performing on Sunday night.

The Old Swan have So Driven in tonight from 8pm, Black Triangles are on at 4pm tomorrow in the Shoppers’ Slot then on Monday, The Casual Swans are starting early with a set from 3.30pm.

Cobbler Bob will be performing on Wednesday at 6pm.

The Tea Gardens are also jumping on the live music bandwagon this Sunday with Blues Mama from 6pm.

Cobbler Bob are set for a second appearance taking The Anchor by storm on Sunday from 4pm, with Jenn MacLaughla­n back in her usual slot on Monday from 4pm.

Looking to next week, the open mic nights are Sunday at The Bungalow from 8pm with Cat Caldwell, and Monday at 8pm at The Abbey Bar hosted by Dunky Hunter.

Andy Lindsey is at The Anchor on Tuesday from 8pm, and on Wednesday at the same time he’s at The Patter Bar.

On Wednesday, Johnny Barr is the host for Burger and Keg at 8.30pm, Ashley is at The Tea Gardens from 8pm, and The Library open mic is Thursday from 8pm, as is The Afton with Alan McKim.
