Pupils help Children in Need
Sixth year pupils at Gleniffer High raised a fantastic £2,800 for Children in Need by hosting a week of fun events at the school.
The cash was raised through a number of events including a pupils vs staff football match – won by the pupils – charity dodgeball and netball, sumo wrestling, face painting, bake sales, tuck shops, the S6 dance and dressing up by staff and S6 pupils.
Provost Lor raine Cameron visited the school with colleagues Councillors Eileen McCartin, Stephen Burns and Kevin Montgomery on the last day of the fundraising week.
Head girl Ciarra Phillips said: “This was a hugely successful event and I am delighted that we have raised such a significant sum for the charity.
“Thanks must go to all the sixth year who entered enthusiastically into the spirit of this week- long series of events.
“I am very grateful also to all the staff and pupils throughout the school who joined in the fun, and to everyone who parted with their money for this very good cause.
“A special thank- you to Provost Cameron who sportingly agreed to be photographed with some of the pupils in fancy dress.”
Provost Cameron said: “My colleagues and I visited the fabulous Gleniffer High School to meet the new headteacher, Lisa Chalmers. The bonus was the pupils popping in to make sure we knew how great their school is.
“They are a credit to the community.”
