Let’s keep moving up the league

Turley wants two weekend victories

- Craig Ritchie

Paisley Pirates face a testing weekend, having two matches within 24 hours as they first travel to Kilmarnock today, before returning to Braehead for a difficult fixture against Edinburgh Capitals on Sunda Sunday. The club is looking to record two wi n s to continue their climb up the league t table after a delayed start, and head c coach Ian Turley h has no illusions a about the difficulty p presented by the tw two matches. He said: “Kilmarnock is a always a rink we tr travel to with a little tr trepidation as it’s not an easy rink for us to pl play on, being much sm smaller than the wide op open spaces we’re m more used to. “Kilmarnock Th Thunder are a new sid side who only came int into the league this ye year and they’ve had hd a dif difficult start, but in my view that simply makes them a harder proposition as they’ll be even more determined to give a good account of themselves and I’m sure the idea of turning us over is a prospect that will give them a very strong motivation to do well.”

Turning his attention to the home match on Sunday, Turley continued: “I know we beat the Capitals 5-2 at their place a fortnight ago, and we played very well to come away with the win.

“However, that game has absolutely no bearing on how events might pan out this weekend.

“Edinburgh Capitals have a very good record at Braehead Arena, and they were the only team to beat us there last season when we won the league, so that illustrates very clearly what a tough game this will be for us on Sunday.

“They always make it very hard for us at our own rink so we will require to be at our very best if we want to tie up the two points.

“We need our supporters to turn out in numbers and give us the backing we know they’re capable of providing.”

He went on: “I feel the ideas which Adam Walker and myself are putting across to the players are beginning to make a difference as we can both see improvements in what they are doing.

“This weekend will give us a double chance to see if that improvement is continuing, as we look to consolidate on the good start that we have made.”
