A Linwood care home worker was delighted to scoop a top gong at a glitzy industry award ceremony.

Tracey Dickson, the housekeeper at Mosswood Care Home, Linwood, scooped the Ancillary and Support Staff title at the Scottish Care Awards 2017.

The event celebrates the best of the independent care home sector in Scotland.

It has been hailed a huge success in recognising i n d i v i d u a l s, teams and companies, with more entries than ever flooding in each year from employers and employees nominating their peers and colleagues.

Tracey was amazed to be in the running for the award, let alone win it.

She said: “I am very surprised but thrilled and honoured to be chosen as a winner at this prestigious ceremony.”

Care home manager Pauleen Stevenson, who nominated Tracey, believes she was a more than worthy winner.

She pra i s e d h e r relationship with residents and staff and said she will always go the extra mile for the people she helps look after.

Pauleen said: “She is an integral and popular part of the support staff.

“Tracey performs as close to perfection as I feel possible from any individual, has developed close relationships with residents, their families and colleagues – and goes beyond her role as a driving force behind organised events and activities outwith her working week.

“She is worth her weight in gold.”

The winner was announced at a recent awards ceremony hosted by Michelle McManus at the Hilton Hotel, in Glasgow.

The care awa rds followed a full- day conference, with speakers including Professor Sir Harry Burns and the cabinet secretary for health and sport, Shona Robison.
