Vale rue poor performance

- Glenvale........3 Glynhill .........6

The Vale suffered a defeat at the hands of an unbeaten Glynhill.

Glenvale Amateurs contributed massively to Glynhill’s three opening goals inside the first 10 minutes by giving away an early penalty before, then giving the ball away on the edge of their own box.

A third came as a result punt up the field that caught out the defence for Glynhill to make it 3-0.

After the third, Glenvale finally sprung into action and were rewarded a penalty which Lewis Mackin slotted home.

The Vale applied even more pressure and from a corner Jordan Collie rose above everyone in the Glynhill penalty area to bullet a header into the back of the net.

Half-time came at a bad time for the Vale, who were on top and looked likely to equalise.

Into the second half, and man of the match John Robertson was through on goal three times but was deemed to be offside in each case.

But 25 minutes into the second period, Glynhill got their fourth and put the game to bed.

The fifth soon followed but a spirited Vale never gave up and pressed Glynhill . They were awarded another penalty, which Jason Crangle put away.

But with seconds left, and the Vale pushing for goals, Glynhill made it 3-6.

Manger John Kelly said: “Its a very poor result for us.

“But some of the fight I saw from the players today was excellent.

“It is something that we have been missing this season, so we hope to build on that on the weeks and months ahead.”
