Dealer snared by tip-off
A dealer busted with speed at his house claimed he only supplied the drug to his pals.
Cops discovered amphetamine at the home of William Lindsay, 27, after receiving a tip-off.
Paisley Sheriff Court heard Lindsay admitted the offence when he appeared in the dock this week and he now faces being fitted with an electronic tag.
Defence agent Bob Kerr confirmed his client was pleading guilty to a charge of being concerned in the supply of amphetamine.
However, he told the court that Lindsay, of Firbank Terrace, Barrhead, admitted only dealing among friends.
Mr Kerr said: “My client is pleading guilty to this charge on the basis it was on a noncommercial basis, that he was supplying friends and the amphetamine was also for personal use.
“The Crown is prepared to accept that position and Mr Lindsay is pleading guilty to the charge.”
The exact amount of the drug recovered during the bust on February 24 last year will not be revealed until Lindsay appears for his punishment later this month, when the fiscal will detail the police operation and recovery.
This plea was acknowledged by the Crown on behalf of fiscal depute Hazel Emmerson.
The fiscal also produced a list of Lindsay’s previous convictions, which was accepted by his defence agent.
Mr Kerr added: “Your ladyship may wish to defer sentencing until the court obtains background reports.”
Sheriff Scott agreed with the lawyer, telling Lindsay: “I will defer sentence for the preparation of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.”
Lindsay’s bail was continued and he will learn his fate when returns to court on January 29.
