A teenager drove dangerously at excessive speed and collided with a street sign, it has been claimed in court.

Paul Adam, 19, of Oxford Drive, Paisley, is said to have been driving too fast in Glenburn Road and Braehead Road, both Paisley, on June 11.

He is also accused of driving on the wrong side of the road and attempting to overtake another vehicle while approaching a roundabout.

It is alleged that he caused driver Anthony Higginson to take evasive action to avoid a collision and then lost control of the car and travelled on to the roundabout, colliding with the road sign.

When the case against him was called at Paisley Sheriff Court, he lodged a not guilty plea.

Sheriff Simon Fraser set a trial date for April 11, with a pre-trial intermediate diet to take place on March 13.
