Warning for rowdy

-

An addict who sparked a street rammy has been told to get clean or face prison.

James Struthers, 31, has been given a final chance to turn his life around after years of trouble.

He was made homeless after falling into a spiral of drugs and booze and has been offered a place on a residential rehab programme.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, the yob admitted bawling foul-mouthed rants and acting aggressively.

Sheriff David Pender warned he will be shown no mercy if he fails.

He said:“This is your last chance to try and make something of your life.”

Struthers was lifted after his menacing behaviour just yards from a school.

The court was told he had let down his family, including his mum – who was forced to kick him out.

Defence lawyer Bob Kerr said his client’s life was a“tale of catastrophe”.

He added:“His mother would show that she was there for him and then find herself in the position, with the heaviest heart, where should be forced yet again to call the authorities.

“It appears that her son has no self worth at all.”

The solicitor pleaded for help for Struthers who has turned to self-harm.

Struthers was detained after causing a row in Netherton Drive, Barrhead, on November 6.

He had been remanded while efforts were made to find him a place on the programme.

Sheriff Pender told him he must complete the course if he wants to avoid a tougher punishment when he returns to court.

He deferred sentence until March 8.
