Make a date for Sma’ Shot
This year’s Sma’ Shot Day will take place on Saturday, July 7.
And this year will, once again, incorporate the new Weave Festival which will see a number of events supporting the main one, which has been a colourful part of the cultural scene in the town since it was revived in the 1980s.
Sma’ Shot Day celebrates Paisley’s history of weaving and radicalism, and focuses on the victory of the town’s weavers in the famous ‘sma shot’ dispute.
The day kicks off with a colourful parade from the Dooslan Stane at Brodie Park, and this makes its way through the town to Abbey Close, where there is entertainment for all the family.
The event culminates in the Burning of the Cork, which sees an effigy of a mill boss set alight.
Full details of the event are still being finalised.
