Bin fire warning
Homeowners have been urged to take their wheelie bins in promptly after collection day to prevent firebugs setting them alight.
Officers are investigating after a bin was torched on a footpath near Oakridge Crescent at around 2.45am on Thursday.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and established that it had been started deliberately, leading cops to launch a wilful fire- raising probe.
Officers are scouring CCTV in a bid to trace those responsible for the fire and called homeowners to take their bins in after rubbish has been collected to prevent opportunists setting them on fire.
A Po l i c e S c o t l a n d spokesman said: “I would ask that people take their wheelie bins in as quickly as possible after collection.
“Getting them off the street can prevent opportunistic criminals taking them away and setting them on fire.”
