Tots’ tidy-up

Mini eco warriors head to the park armed with litter pickers and bags

- Chris Taylor

Youngsters did their bit to help keep their town clean by pitching in with a huge litter pick.

Three Bears Nursery headed to their local park to gather up all the rubbish.

And, when everything was the way it should be, they headed off to another to give that a onceover too.

Louise Reilly, eco-coordinator at the Renfrew centre, says the tots love helping out.

She explained: “We’ve been working with Keep Scotland Beautiful to earn our Green Flag.

“The children love getting out and they’re all so keen to learn about how to protect the environment.

“They were all knackered after they got back, but very pleased with themselves.

“The earlier we start to introduce ideas around litter and energy, the better chance they’ll develop good habits through the rest of their lives.”

The kids headed out to Robertson Park, before moving on to another beauty spot near their base.

Parents and teachers pitched in to do their bit too, with hopes of obtaining Green Flag status later this year.
