- David Campbell

St Mirren fans are planning a moving mid-game tribute to a fan who recently lost his life.

Dunky Kilpatrick, 61, had been a regular at Saints matches until he sadly passed away on January 15 after a short illness.

Now, as a mark of respect, St Mirren fans are planning a minute’s applause in the 61st minute of an upcoming home match.

Andy Gregory, who was close pals with Dunky, 61, posted a message on the St Mirren FC Fans Facebook group, calling for fellow supporters to back the idea.

He wrote: “Dunky was 61 and we are trying and arrange a minute’s applause at the Queen of the South game on February 3 in the 61st minute. His family are going to attend the game.”

Fans were quick to support the idea.

Tam Johnstone posted: “We will honour a fanatical Buddie in the 61st minute don’t worry. I knew Dunky and he was mad for our wonderful club. We will do him proud in the 61st minute.”

He was a regular feature in the stand behind the goals with his radio and tartan trousers.

Earlier this week we reported that fans from were planning to attend his funeral when it was revealed he didn’t have many family members left

Duncan was a regular in Paisley’s Alamo Bar, Argyle Bar and Club Bar.

He was well-known for his spell working in a newsagents and grocers in Thrushcraigs.

His funeral will be held at Woodside Crematorium on Tuesday, February 13, at 1pm.

Duncan will be taken past the Paisley 2021 Stadium and Paisley town centre for people to pay their respects.

Saints fans recently held a minute of applause on the 30th minutes of the side’s recent clash with Dundee United after the tragic death of 30-year-old David Murphy.
