Terror as thug tries to rob woman while she walks her dog
Lout flees empty-handed after victim fights back
A terrified woman managed to fight off a violent would-be robber who dragged her to the ground.
The 52-year-old was walking her dog in a wooded area near Glenfield Road in Glenburn, Paisley, at around noon on Friday when she was attacked from behind.
The thug demanded cash but the victim was able to fend him off as her dog barked at the brute and the suspect fled.
The victim was uninjured but badly shaken by the incident, and police have now released a description of the yob.
He is described as white, slim/medium build, with a foreign accent, possibly Eastern European, and was wearing a navy blue jacket, tracksuit bottoms and dark-coloured trainers.
Police have launched an investigation into the attempted robbery and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Constable Stevie Craig, of Paisley CID, said:“Thankfully the lady was not injured but she is extremely upset and distressed by what happened.
“Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the area but we would appeal to anyone who may either have seen or heard the attack take place, or who may recognise the description of the man responsible.
“It’s possible he may have been hanging around the area for a while, and with the area being a popular spot for dog walkers, it’s possible someone may have seen him loitering there.”
Detectives have also asked drivers who may have passed through the area to check their dash cam footage to see if it picked anything up.
DC Craig said: “I would ask anyone driving in Glenfield Road, Glenburn Road or roads near these around this time to check their dash cams for anyone fitting this description, and contact 101 or attend your local police office with the footage.”
Information can be passed to Paisley CID on 101. Details can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
