Get on your bike for Ride the Clyde event

-

Renfrewshire cyclists looking for a charity challenge are being encouraged to join a race with a difference.

Ride the Clyde challenges cyclists to cross all 17 bridges over the River Clyde from Dalmarnock to Bowling.

The Paisley- based Scottish Huntington’s Association (SHA) has organised the tough 30-mile event.

SHA fundraising manager Dougie Peddie said:“We think this is the first time something like this has ever been done.

“It really is a chance for people to achieve something previously never attempted on any scale.”

Aiming to improve the lives of people living with Huntington’s Disease, the race is open to families as well as experienced cyclists, with every penny raised going to the charity.

Everyone taking part is being asked to raise £99, which will be used to fund specialists, a youth support team and its financial wellbeing service.

It is estimated there are around 1,100 people living with HD in Scotland and up to 6,000 potentially at risk.

“The cycle is restricted to 35 riders,” Dougie added.

“So sign up today and don’t miss out on your chance to be the first group to complete the challenge.”

Ride the Clyde takes place on Sunday, March 25.
