’Lie’s the perfect match for Paul

- Junior football

Neilston striker Paul Stewart admits he is revelling in his new-found love of junior football.

The former Arthurlie man returned to the junior scene at the start of this season following 18 months playing amateur football with his local side in Erskine.

But, with the Farmer’s Boys battling it out for promotion back to the Super Leagues, Stewart revealed it is great to be back.

He said:“In the past, I struggled with juggling work and football, and then I wasn’t always playing when it came to a Saturday, so it was frustrating.

“After I left Arthurlie, I was at Kilsyth for a little while, but I decided to go back to playing amateur and I loved it.

“But you want to be playing football at the highest possible level and when Neilston came in I didn’t think twice about it.

“It is a great group of lads that we have here and everyone is pulling in the direction of promotion.

“But we have got to be ambitious. Going up is obviously the aim, but to win a title would be amazing.

“It is something that you dream of doing, regardless of who you are playing for.

“I feel brilliant and I am back to my best.

“I have scored something like 11 goals in 13 games, so I’m confident heading into every game now.

“I just hope we can keep up that form and make a real push.”
